Birdwatching in the Azibo's Lagoon
With over 150 species recorded to date and new species being added to the list regularly, the Azibo’s Lagoon Protected Landscape is one of the most exciting locations for birdwatching, in the north of the country.
With it’s clear waters surrounded by the mountains of Bornes and Nogueira, the Azibo’s Lagoon is located in the middle of two important flyways, one in the Atlantic seashore and other at east, that crosses all the peninsula. These conditions make it the perfect stop-over in bird’s journey between Europe and Africa, and therefore, an opportunity for visitors to see, not only the resident species but also, a wide variety of beautiful migratory species in transit.
