    In the Azibo’s Lagoon Protected Landscape visitors are encouraged to increase their understanding and appreciation of local nature and culture, as to enjoy both, mental and physical recreation.

    The natural heritage of the Azibo’s Lagoon, makes it ideal for almost any outdoor recreation activities like, birdwatching - see "Birding in the Azibo’s Lagoon" -, hiking - see "Azibo’s Hiking Trails" -, orientation, cycle track, climbing, and nautical non-motor sports, swimming, rowing, canoeing, sailing, and windsurf.

    The Municipality of Macedo de Cavaleiros in partnership with Portuguese Universities and other organizations promotes workshops, courses, and seminars, related with environment, cultural and traditional issues. Noteworthy are the ornithological workshops, events, and field trips, planned and organised together with SPEA, a Portuguese ornithology organization, partner of BirdLife International.
